Hey, my friend, what is up? And welcome back to another episode of Do Life Big. I am so excited that you are here today, because today we're going to be talking about something that's really going to help you. If you are running an online business. I apologize I missed a week last week with Do Life Big. I don't think I've ever missed a week since doing this podcast. Now for gosh, I think it's almost been two and a half years. But unfortunately, we flew back, my mom and I flew back to Rhode Island to be with my Nana for her last few days of life, and it was really nice to be there with her. However, I want to say to you that after sitting by someone while they're taking their last, you know, few breaths, and watching someone struggle like that, who you love and care about so much, it's so hard. But I just want to remind you that life is so short. It's so short, and I hope that you are just doing something that you love right now. I hope that the job that you have, the career, your business, something that you love and that fulfills you. I hope that you're spending your days with people who mean the most to you, and I really hope that you're just making every minute count in that when you're with people that you leave them better than they were before you started. Because, you know, when I think of my Nana, that's that's what I think about. She always made people feel loved and cared for and like you were the only one in the room, and she was such a selfless person. And so just a little bit of food for thought before we dive into today's episode. But that's why I missed last week's episode, and I'm coming back at you strong today, and you're gonna love it. You are going to love this one today.
We're diving into honestly, it's one of the hardest parts of starting an online business, and it's when you're putting in the work and you're showing up and you're doing all the things, but it feels like nothing's happening, right? I'm sure that you can relate. We have all been there. If you're new to business, you are not alone. This is the norm. This is typical. This is how it all starts. At the beginning of the journey. If you've been in business for months, or maybe even years, and you haven't seen the growth that you've expected, this episode is going to be for you too. We're talking about how to persevere when the results are slow. How to keep the faith in your vision and why what you're doing is working, even if you can't see it yet. So first piece of this that I really want you to understand is that building a business there's this lag time that happens. The real truth about growth in business is that it's just like any other area in your life that you're trying to improve. It's just like fitness, it's just like relationships, it's just like personal development. All of that takes time, and so does building a business. There's this invisible work that's happening, and so just because you don't see external results yet it doesn't mean that nothing is happening. Every post you make, every call you make, every conversation you have, every email you send, is planting seeds, and you need to remember that it's just kind of like a bamboo tree. If you want to think about a bamboo tree, it stays underground for years right before suddenly growing like 90 feet in weeks. Your business is no different than that bamboo tree.
So how can we keep the faith in staying in alignment while we're building our business? The first thing I want to tell you is that you need to reconnect with your vision, what really is the bigger purpose behind what you're doing? Why did you get into business in the first place? If your success was guaranteed, how would you show up today? Take a second to really think about that. If you knew that your success was inevitable, how would you show up to your business today.
The next tip I'm going to give you, and this is really important, this one really threw me for a loop years ago, when I started my second business, was that I want you to detach from the timeline, your success is inevitable, but not on a timeline that your fear and impatience want to control. And I remember when I started my second business, my coaching business, things weren't happening as fast as I wanted to, and I kept comparing this business to another business from the past, and I had this timeline in my head, and then when I got to that timeline, and I wasn't earning the amount of money that I was earning in the other business that I had in the past, I started to get extremely frustrated and think that maybe, maybe I shouldn't have left that other business. Maybe I should be doing something else. Why is this taking so long? And so we do this to ourselves all the time. We put these timelines on, like, by this amount of time, I want to be earning six figures, and then if it doesn't happen, we just want to throw in the towel and think, well, obviously I'm not meant to do this, because it didn't happen in the timeline. And we get so wrapped up in this timeline of when we want things to happen. And what I want you to remind yourself is, is that everything is happening exactly how it's meant to happen for you, in the exact order. You're exactly where you're meant to be right now, whether you believe it or not, you're getting exactly what you need in this moment, and that your success is inevitable, so you need to keep going.
And the third little tip I want to give you is to just shift your perspective. Instead of focusing on this thought of, I'm not making any money. Nothing's happening yet. Focus on I'm building momentum, I'm building connections, I'm learning skills, and I'm creating a foundation for my business. Those three things will help you. Now, if we really focus on these little mini wins and proof of the mini wins, this is another way to help you keep that momentum going in your business. So I want you to look for signs of progress in your business. Are people engaging with you? Are you reaching out? Are they telling you that they love what you're sharing? Are they telling you that they love what you stand for? That is all proof right there that what you're doing is working. And then what I want you to do is I want you to track these little mini wins. So every sale, every message, every conversation, every email subscriber, these are all signs of movement, believe it or not. So, you can't just focus on the dollar, you need to focus on these other mini wins, because it's these mini wins that are going to get that's going to get the momentum going in your business, that's going to create the income that you want in your bank account. So don't miss these little signs of movement, just because they feel really small, and celebrate on showing up, right? It's not easy to be building a business. That's why not everybody does it. That's why the people who are in business, who are online entrepreneurs, or any business in general, that's the road less traveled, because it's bumpy and there's ups and there's downs and there's twists and there's turns and there's great times, and then it's like, Oh, shit. Can't believe that happened. There's those times too. But celebrate that you're showing up. You're already winning, because most people quit. Most people quit when it gets tough, and you're proving to yourself that you're someone who follows through. You're proving to yourself, which is the most important person to prove anything to is yourself, but you're proving to yourself that when you make a decision, you're going to commit and you're going to follow through until you make it happen.
Now, when doubt starts to creep in, this is going to happen. Still happens to me too. I still have to catch myself. I still have to reframe my thoughts all the time. It's a work in progress. It's never ending, just like your fitness journey, just like working on your relationship with your spouse, doesn't ever end. But I want you to recognize this inner critic. I want you to recognize that little bitch voice, is what I call it. I want you to recognize that voice telling you, you know what, Kathi, maybe this isn't working. That's not the truth. And I want you to recognize that that is not the truth. When you hear that voice, it's fear trying to keep you safe.
What if success is just around the corner for you? You know, here's the truth. Most people quit right before they see the breakthrough. Most people do. They give up right as they're about to have this massive breakthrough. They put in all this time, all this blood, sweat and tears, all their time and energy. They pour their heart into their business, and because they don't see the results that they wanted to see in the time of that they wanted to see it, they quit. Right before that massive breakthrough. Just don't let that be you and continue to have faith over fear. It's really easy to go down the rabbit hole of this sucks. I'm making no money. Nothing's happening yet. Why am I doing this? I'm killing myself. I'm exhausted. Does this even mean anything. Is this working? If you knew with 100% certainty that this would work, how would you show up differently today in your business? And then I want you to operate from that place right now, and not just today, but every day going forward. So if you've been feeling like nothing's happening, trust me, it is. I have been there, done that. You're talking about 13 years of online entrepreneurship. When you feel like nothing is happening, trust have faith, because it really is, something is happening. Your job is not to force results. Your job is to stay in the game long enough for your results to catch up to you. That's it, and you can do that. The ones who make it aren't the most talented or the luckiest, they're not even the smartest. None of that means anything. The ones who make it, they're just the ones who refuse to quit. So keep going, keep believing, and know that one day you'll look back and be so grateful you didn't give up when it felt like nothing was happening. I know that you can do this. I believe in you.
