Fix the Root, Not the Fruit: Why Surface-Level Solutions Aren’t Working!

  • Even in my own life (hello, Tums addiction!), I’ve been treating symptoms instead of fixing the root causes—like my eating and drinking habits.
  • Real, lasting change only happens when we dig deeper. You can’t outwork a belief that says “I’m not enough.” Go to the root!

↗️ SHIFT OF THE WEEK:

Anxiety, Income, Burnout? That Ain't the Real Issue.

Lets get real - most people don't ACTUALLY solve their problems..

They treat the symptom and ignore the damn root cause!

For example: Your income's not growing?

You throw more strategy at it. You hustle harder. You post more.

But.... the problem isn't the strategy!

The problem is the story running the show in your head! 

You think you need a new plan.

But what you really need is a new belief system.

Same thing happens to us in LIFE!

Feeling anxious all the time? Slap a prescription on it 💊

Feeling stuck in shame or guilt? Just numb it with wine🍷or work 👩‍💻

But here's the truth no one wants to say out loud:

You can't medicate your way out of misalignment.

You can't outwork a belief that says "I'm not enough."

Think about it like a fruit tree. A tree with good roots and a healthy system will produce good fruits. A diseased tree or a shallow root system will produce struggling fruits. 

It's easy to focus on the fruit, because that's what we are consuming. But if the fruit is bad, you need to look at the ROOTS! 

You can't just "positive vibe" your way past a root that's rotting under the surface.

If you don't go deeper, if you don't pull up the REAL REASONS why you keep getting the same results, you'll stay in the same cycle.

Forever! End of discussion.

So, this week's shift is: 

Stop fixing the surface level BS.

Because you're not fixing the problem at all! You might move the needle forward a little bit. 

And start asking what's underneath this.

When you deal with the ROOT of the problem, the symptom disappears on it's own, permanently!

⭐ Your Action Step for this week!

Time to stop pretending the problem is the algorithm, your to-do list or the anxiety you feel.

Pick one thing that's been frustrating the hell out of you. Maybe your business isn't growing, you're constantly anxious or you feel stuck AF!

Now ask yourself (and don't sugarcoat this!!):

  1. What story am I telling myself about this?
  2. What belief is actually running the show here?
  3. Where did that belief come from?

Journal it! Voice note it! Scream it into your phone if you need to!

Just don't ignore it.

Because awareness is the first punch that knocks the BS to the ground.

And you can't change what you're too scared to face.


🗣️ REAL TALK MOMENT:

I am QUEEN of popping TUMS because of my acid reflux.

I typically get really bad acid reflux if I'm drinking too much alcohol, caffeine and if my nutrition is "off."

(seriously, I probably use a bottle of tums a week 😲!)

If I watch what I eat and limit my caffeine and alcohol.. then I really don't get acid reflux at all!

And since I've just spent the last week traveling on the road with 3 kids and a dog all the way from FL to NC, let's just say the alcohol and caffeine consumption has been MUCH more than usual!

I've been popping Tums like they're candy!

The tums is just the "bandaid" for the acid reflux. And the acid reflux is just the symptom of eating and drinking like shit!

And in the moment the Tums temporarily keeps the acid reflux at bay, but only for a few hours.

The reflux always returns and it's the absolute worse feeling!

So, going back to our tree example, the root here is what I am eating and drinking. The fruit is my acid reflux. And to address the issue, I'm taking Tums to make the "fruit" better, when I should really be addressing the actual root and improve how I eat and drink. 

Well, now that we're finally settled into our place up in the mountains of NC, I can get back into my usual routine!

I went grocery shopping and got all my ingredients to make my healthy meals. I'll make sure to consume more water on the daily and I'll TRY to stick to my weekend drinking! 

No tums necessary!
